Getting checked

One ID check, before you go live.

Every CatSitz sitter will have their identity verified, and a person will review every profile before it goes live.
‍

The ID check will confirm who you are. It is not a background or criminal record check, and we never describe it as one.

What you need

A government photo ID, submitted in your browser. Nothing posted, nothing scanned at a counter.

Your profile

Every profile will be reviewed by a person before it goes live. We'll also check changes to live profiles, and can remove any profile that doesn't meet our standards.

How search is ordered

Top cats come first.

Reach twenty reviews with an average of 4.5 or higher and you earn Platinum. There's nothing to pay and nothing to switch on.
‍

Search results are listed in this order: sitters who are both Platinum and Founding first, then Platinum sitters, then Founding sitters, then everyone else.

London opens with its first 200 cat sitters. Founding sitters will keep a permanent London Founding Sitter badge and a permanent priority listing in search.

Every booking also carries

A Care Card for the cat: food, medication, hiding places, vet, and a description of how to get in. Owners send any codes to you in the booking chat, never on the card.

Five per cent of everything CatSitz earns, after our sitters are paid, goes to cat welfare charities.

Before you apply

Questions sitters ask

Who can apply?

You must be 18 or over, and able to look after cats in homes across London. Before your profile goes live, you'll verify your identity with a government photo ID, and a person at CatSitz will review your profile. You set your own rates.

What does CatSitz charge sitters?

A 10% management fee on your rate, and you keep 90%. Owners pay a separate 10% booking fee on top, which never comes out of your rate.

Can I set and change my own rate?

Yes. You set your own rate when you create your profile, and you can change it whenever you like. Owners always see the full price, including the 10% booking fee, before they book.

When do I get paid?

Payment is released 48 hours after the booking ends, so an owner has time to raise a problem first. You're paid through Stripe to the bank account you set up.

What if I have to cancel?

Tell the owner and CatSitz as early as you can. The owner is refunded in full and told straight away. We record late cancellations and review every case. You aren't paid for a booking you cancel.

Do I need to keep my availability up to date?

Yes. Once owner bookings open, we ask you once a month to confirm you're still taking bookings, with one tap. If you don't, your profile is hidden, not removed.

Is the ID check a background check?

No. It will confirm who you are. It is not a background or criminal record check, and we never describe it as one.
