Booking a sitter

More onHow the Care Card works

When can I book?

Owner bookings aren't open yet. We're recruiting sitters in London now.Get notifiedand we'll let you know when our booking calendar opens near you.

What is the Care Card?

Every CatSitz booking will have one: what they eat, what they take, where they hide, which vet to ring. Your sitter will work from it, so nothing depends on anyone’s memory.

Do door codes go on the Care Card?

No. Your Care Card describes how to get in, but it never holds door codes, alarm codes or keysafe numbers. Once your sitter has accepted the booking, you send those to them in the booking chat.

What if something's changed since my Care Card was written?

Message your sitter directly in the booking chat. We're building a proper way to update the card itself.

Who can see my Care Card?

You, your current sitter once they've accepted your booking, and CatSitz. Sitters will agree to keep it confidential.

Can I meet the sitter first?

Yes. You can message first and meet if you like, before anything is booked.Trust and safety.

What does a booking cost?

Cat owners pay the sitter's rate plus a 10% booking fee. Sitters keep 90% of their rate. Both are shown before you book.

When is my payment taken?

You pay when you book. We hold the payment until 48 hours after the booking ends, which is also the window for either side to raise a problem. Then it is released to your sitter.

What if I need to cancel?

Free to cancel at least 24 hours before the start. Inside 24 hours, the booking is charged in full and your sitter is paid.

What if my sitter cancels?

You aren't charged. You're refunded in full and told straight away. We record late cancellations and review every case.

What does CatSitz charge sitters?

A 10% management fee on your rate, and you keep 90%. Owners pay a separate 10% booking fee on top, which never comes out of your rate.

When do I get paid?

Payment is held until 48 hours after the booking ends, which is also the window for either side to raise a problem. It is then released to you.

What if I have to cancel?

Tell the owner and CatSitz as early as you can. The owner is refunded in full and told straight away. We record late cancellations and review every case. You aren't paid for a booking you cancel.

Do I need to keep my availability up to date?

Yes. Once owner bookings open, we ask you once a month to confirm you're still taking bookings, with one tap. If you don't, your profile is hidden from search until you do. It's never deleted.

The Founding 200

Founding sitters

More onThe Founding 200

What is the Founding 200?

The first 200 cat sitters in London. Each will keep a permanent London Founding Sitter badge and a permanent priority listing in search.

Does it cost anything?

No. There is nothing to pay to join the Founding 200 or to keep the badge.

Do Founding sitters pay a different management fee?

No. Founding sitters pay the same 10% management fee as everyone else and keep 90% of the rate they set.

Can I be Founding and Platinum?

Yes. They are separate. Founding marks when you joined, and Platinum is earned through reviews. A sitter can hold either, both or neither.

Checks and problems

More onTrust and safety

Is the ID check a background check?

No. It will confirm who you are. It is not a background or criminal record check, and we never describe it as one.

What if something goes wrong?

Tell us, during the booking or after it's finished. The person raising the problem shares what happened, with any photos or messages. The other person has 72 hours to respond, and then someone at CatSitz reviews both sides.

Are reviews genuine?

Reviews come from owners after completed bookings. We don't write reviews, and we don't remove genuine ones for being unflattering.

Still stuck?

Ask a person.

We read every message and reply by email.
