Local detail

Cats in Greenwich

Greenwich stretches along the river from Deptford Creek past Greenwich town centre and the Peninsula to Charlton, Woolwich and Thamesmead, and south to Blackheath, Eltham and Kidbrooke. Close to the river the homes are mostly flats: new blocks on the Greenwich Peninsula and at Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, older estates and conversions around Greenwich and Charlton. Further south, Blackheath, Eltham and Kidbrooke have far more houses with gardens, many of them 1920s and 1930s semis, so plenty of cats there come and go through a cat flap and share their gardens with foxes. Cats in the riverside flats are more likely to be kept indoors, sometimes with a balcony. Visits range from a concierge or fob in the newer blocks to a front door or keysafe on a suburban street, so it helps to describe the way in on your Care Card and send any codes in the booking chat once your sitter has accepted. With the DLR, the Elizabeth line at Woolwich and Southeastern trains, a sitter living nearby can keep to your cat's morning and evening routine.
