Local detail

Cats in Southwark

Southwark stretches from Bankside and Borough by the river, through Bermondsey, Walworth and Peckham, to Camberwell, Dulwich and Nunhead in the south, and its homes change a lot along the way. Near the river it's mostly flats: warehouse conversions in Bermondsey, new blocks around Elephant and Castle, and estates in Walworth. Further south there are more Victorian terraces with small gardens, and East Dulwich and Nunhead have streets of houses where cats come and go through a cat flap. In newer blocks a visit often starts with a fob or a concierge; in older conversions it's usually a buzzer and stairs. Codes go to your sitter in the booking chat after they accept, and your Care Card covers the rest: where the food is, where the carrier lives and where your cat goes when someone new arrives. With Peckham Rye, Burgess Park and Dulwich Park nearby, plenty of local cats share their gardens with foxes, so it's worth telling your sitter which doors and windows to check before they leave.
